CBS DFW reported that a man was killed on Thanksgiving evening when a suspected drunk driver crashed into his truck on the President George Bush Turnpike near Firewheel Town Center. Samuel Guzman, a 41-year-old man, was filling his truck’s gas tank when the drunk driver struck and killed him. He was on the way home to his family when his truck ran out of gas. His daughter came to assist him with filling up his truck when the accident occurred. Samuel Guzman passed away at a nearby hospital shortly after.
The man who killed Guzman was identified as 50-year-old Paul Thurber, who was arrested at the scene. The family is urging anyone during the holidays not to drink and drive. We are keeping their family in our thoughts during this incredibly tragic time.
Drunk Driving Accidents & Wrongful Death
Many accidents that involve drunk drivers end up being fatal. When someone makes the decision to drink and drive, they are acting recklessly with their life and the life of every other person on the road. All too often, innocent people are killed because of these choices. When a loved one has been killed due to the recklessness or negligence of another, the family can file a wrongful death claim. Wrongful death can help the family recover funeral expenses, medical bills, lost wages, and more.
