A truck accident on April 18 killed one person on Interstate 30 near Rockwall. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident involved four cars and two semi-trucks. According to a witness, traffic was slowing down but the driver of one of the semi-trucks failed to react in time, slamming into an automobile and causing a chain reaction accident. Two other accident victims had to be transported to nearby hospitals.
Another Unfortunate Truck Accident Tragedy
A truck accident is an all-too common occurrence, not only in Texas but throughout the country. Thousands of people are seriously injured or killed in collisions with these mammoth vehicles, and there are many factors that contribute to these types of accidents.
In some cases, a truck will not be properly maintained, and as a result, a vital component will fail at the wrong time. It could be a truck’s brakes, a worn tire, or something else. Other times a driver will be distracted due to talking or texting on a smartphone, or may be intoxicated. Sometimes drivers are simply fatigued because they didn’t get enough rest in order to try and meet an employer’s unreasonable deadline.
Whatever the cause, if you are involved in this type of accident you need to get in touch with an attorney as soon as possible to make sure your rights are protected. Fast action is required because crucial evidence can quickly disappear after a truck accident, due to weather conditions, road construction or other reasons.
